The big day has come and gone, but keep in touch. We will soon announce our 2026 date for the event.

At One Voice Coalition, we are dedicated to advancing inclusion and access for individuals with disabilities across Florida. For the 2026 Legislative Session, our priorities focus on equal access to healthcare—including protections for Medicaid, KidCare, and APD services—fair education opportunities for all children amid recent federal changes, and greater transparency and inclusion in disability
Developmental Disability Awareness Day in Florida is important because it raises lawmakers’ understanding of the challenges faced by people with developmental disabilities, including access to education, healthcare, employment, and community services. Held during the legislative session, it provides a critical opportunity for advocates, families, and individuals to meet with legislators, promote inclusion, and influence policy and funding decisions for programs like Medicaid waivers, respite care, and vocational training. The day also celebrates the achievements of people with developmental disabilities, helping combat stigma and ensure their voices are heard when laws and budgets are being decided.
